Lonely Planet Costa Rica Travel Guide Lonely Planet Ashley Harrell Brian Kluepfel Jade Bremner 9781786571762 Books Reviews

  • We have visited Costa Rica twice (from the U.S.). We've used Lonely Planet's Costa Rica guide book and find it to be very helpful. Costa Rica is a small country, but first-time visitors will be surprised at how much there is to see and do. No guide book will cover everything, but this one provides a solid start. It is well organized by regions, with subsections on activities, sleeping, eating, drinking& nightlife, & getting there. Anyone planning a first-time visit to a foreign country like Costa Rica would be well advised to purchase this (I'd purchase 2 or 3 different guide books) and study them ahead of the visit. It will really enhance your visit and help make the most of your time. I also strongly recommend a current book as things are changing fast in developing Costa Rica. It is a beautiful & friendly country. At least 4.5 stars for "Lonely Planet Costa Rica".
  • I used to always like Lonely Planet because they gave suggestions on how to experience a place inexpensively and tips that only locals would know. Maybe it is just specific to this tour book, but what an absolute waste of money. They are clearly getting kick backs from tour groups and resorts and listing them only for that reason. I found a couple of travel blogs that gave me the type of information that Lonely Planet used to give like where the locals go to experience natural hot springs for free since Lonely Planet laughably recommended places that cost $57/day! What a complete waste of time and money getting this book!
  • This is a great book to learn about Costa Rica and to use for planning your travel. It is well organized with beautiful pictures and very inclusive of restaurants and hotels. It also includes history, how to plan, make travel arrangements, etc. Full of great information!
  • This is the 4th or 5th edition of Lonely planet we have purchased. First we got one as tourists, but now we live here and own a small hotel. We let our guests see the reports of the places they wish to visit next. Prices, phone numbers routes both by bus or private car... it's all in there!!
  • Have traveled to Costa Rica many times. This travel book is the most comprehensive guide.
  • Used for a trip to northwestern and central CR. Found invaluable information!
  • We stayed 2 weeks in Costa Rica and this book came in very handy.
  • these are simply great guides
