Ebook Sidewalks in the Jungle What it REALLY Like to Live and Retire in Costa Rica Alfred Stites 9781933167367 Books
What is it REALLY like to retire and live in Costa Rica? If you only went by what is written in travel guides and what is hyped by travel agents (and their promotional materials), the conclusion would have to be that Costa Rica is heaven on earth. Unfortunately, things in Costa Rica are simply not as they are presented in the travel books, and expatriates often have problems trying to establish a life there. After the third couple Alfred Stites knew decided to move to another Central (or South) American country simply because of the difficulties in Costa Rica, he decided to write about what it is really like to move to and live in this lovely country. This book is based on his own opinion and observation; he writes what he sees and knows. Also included in this book is a Supplement Section dealing with exactly the steps needed for a retiree seeking Pensionado Status in Costa Rica. For all of its challenges, where else can you find a country of . exceptional natural beauty . very inexpensive modern housing . a delightful climate . a public transportation system that will take you anywhere you want to go Where you can live very comfortably on an income of $2000/month? Where? The place where they build Sidewalks in the Jungle! Costa Rica!
Ebook Sidewalks in the Jungle What it REALLY Like to Live and Retire in Costa Rica Alfred Stites 9781933167367 Books
"It is refreshing to know that someone was courageous enough to speak up and say something contrary to what everyone else seems to be saying about Costa Rica. Real estate companies, newbies with commercial web sites about Costa Rica, and long-time expats who make their livings off of retirees and tourists become very angry at anyone who dares to speak the truth without self-interest in mind.
It is no surprise that Mr. Stites' book has not been widely publicized. Folks who profit from naive pensioners don't like their victims to be forewarned. Did you know, for instance, that violent robbery is on the increase in nice neighborhoods? Or that attorneys are characteristically corrupt?
I heard about Sidewalks in the Jungle from a retired expat friend who was very unhappy in Costa Rica and decided to move away after a seven-year attempt to make his home in the central valley. "You need to read this book," he urged me.
There is no such place as paradise, even in Costa RIca. It is, however, a beautiful country with a near-perfect climate, friendly people, and wonderful beaches and food.
People who are interested in retiring to Costa Rica should read this book before they read any promotional materials from International Living and other for-profit publications. You can also visit my blog to read about the real Costa Rica: [...]
